Tom Hanks says Toy Story 4 is in development and Tim Allen has already signed for a 4th installment. Critics be damned, Warner Bros. will still turn a tidy profit on Green Lantern so the next chapter should be more efficient. It’s all momentum and inertia at this point. Once the inexorable orbits of such juggernauts are set in motion, the only way sure way to halt a franchise is to let Bret Ratner or Joel Schumacher direct an episode. And even then…
Part of being a great artist is knowing when to put down the brush. On the other hand, we have to remember nobody can screw up the great movies we love with a sequel we scorn. Not even George Lucas can do that, though lord knows he tried.
